Ranjankudi fort

 

This fort was built in the 16th century by the Nayakas of Vijay Nagar at the place Ranjankudi in Tamil Nadu. This fort has small shrines of Hindu god Shiva and Ganapathy also Dravidian sculpture and other Dravidian influences could be seen in one of the check posts in the fort.

After the rule of the Nayakas the Islamic ruler Mohamad Ali came to capture the fort.

Mohamad Ali one who also built the dilapidated Mosque and other Islamic structures. And another important thing about this fort is the surrender of the French to the British. The British gave lots of money to Muhamad Ali for his alliance. But the French did not know about this alliance of the British so for hiding from the British. As the fort had three levels, the French was caught by the British.
