Vellore fort

Hello everybody, today let’s learn about a magnificent and historiological site called the Vellore fort located in Vellore which is located in the northern part of Tamil Nādu.

this fort was initially erected by king Chinna Bomma Reddy Nayak who was one of the sub-ordinates of sadhasiva Raya the Vijayanagar emperor. This place was built in the 15th or 16th century AD. Also, a shiva temple called jalagandeshvara temle, the name derived the Hindi word  jala means water which represents the huge mode surrounding the temple and the Tamil word Eshwara which represents lord shiva. After a short period after construction the Bijapur sultans captured the fort and kept it for more than 25 years. Then the fort was captured by the marathas and they kept it for 30 years. Then it was captured by the Arcot Nawab after they used the fort for few years, finally as the Nawab gifted it to the British as the Nawab and the English were allies. Another important thing which had happened in this fort is the first anti-British Revolution, headed by the descendants of Tippu sultan. Also, the last of SriLankan kings was also imprisoned here. Now in this place there is a police training school and museums of Tamil Nādu government. Also the sub- treasury office of Tamil Nadu government is located here. If come to this fort even now you would feel that this place is having a Mosque, st. Jhon’s church having more than 280 seats and a hindu temple as I told earlier. And you cannot expect to see this fort like a normal fort because this fort is almost like the st. George fort.

So I would encourage you if you want to travel to here.
